Okay, so first of all, I didn’t write this. I’m re-posting an e-mail (with a few changes) from Greensboro based rider and ride organizer Blake Lambert because he said it so well. He’s promotes the Carolina Century held in the Triad each fall.
“I just wanted to say a brief thank you to the local folk who want to keep organized rides alive or who care so deeply about our community, Habitat for Humanity and cycling locally that they gave of their time to serve others Saturday.
I am genuinely encouraged by the response we got from people willing to be outside all day if needed at the rest stops and to help deliver tables and coolers and humans on the course. Thanks so much!
A bicycling friendly community starts with bicyclists being friendly to each other, especially by showing up as hosts to out of town and to new or unfamiliar local cyclists. Our vols needed a booster shot of bikelove to help them provide all day support, and you’ve given plenty. So thanks! The (River Ride) is on, full strength like our powderade. “
